About this Class

From 1838 to 1938, there were thousands of cows living in Kingston. They contributed to the city, but residents gradually came to see cows as a problem. Cows wandered onto people’s properties, diseases were sometimes spread through milk, and they became associated with waste spaces. Over time, the control of cows increased, and the urban cow eventually disappeared from the city.
