If you are interested in starting a small food production business, the City of Kingston, the Township of South Frontenac and our partners are here to help you. There are resources available to make the dream a reality, including two commercial kitchens in Kingston and a hall in South Frontenac. Anyone who is looking to produce and sell food can access these facilities. This event is a steppingstone to help you get started. There is a lot to know about food production, regulations and resources. We are here to provide that support. There is a demand for local food and many of our local producers have expressed their willingness to support these ventures. From renting and using a commercial kitchen, to understanding all the regulations and food safety requirements, to getting your product on the shelves, this training day will walk you through every step. This is a great opportunity for those who want to start selling that secret recipe family and friends are always asking about, for the people who are looking to take on a side gig, or even a full-time business, for farmers looking to add a secondary revenue source to their business, or the artisans out there that are already producing a food product and looking to scale up their businesses. Representatives from the City of Kingston, South Frontenac, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, KFLA Public Health, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, and industry experts will be on hand for this full day training event and give you all the tools you need to get your products to market. Lunch will be provided including vegetarian options. Free parking available on site. Contact Information: Abryant-peller@cityofkingston.ca 343-363-0714
