About this Class

Since 2020, there have been more than 82.4 million people displaced around the world. With the Refugees Welcome: Refuge Canada Speaker Series, we invite you to listen and learn more about the Global Refugee Crisis. We encourage you to become a part of the conversation. The Speaker Series is a three-part virtual series designed to educate the community on the Global Refugee Crisis. Session 1: Jamal Saeed & Jason Heroux Hear from local author, Jamal Saaed as he tells us about his story his journey that brought him from Syria to Canada. After, join Kingston Poet Laureate, Jason Heroux, to partake in a reflective poetry exercise designed to help us look inward and celebrate our own diversity. Sessions are online and may end before 9 pm. There is no cost to the event, but we encourage people attending to make a donation to an organization that supports refugees. Further information will be sent following the session.
