About this Class

It’s time to become water scientists! In this session, participants will head outside to Lake Ontario to observe, explore, and test real lake water. Children will learn how scientists study water and what water testing can tell us about the health of our lake. Through guided observation and hands-on exploration, Water Warriors will discover how we can care for our local waterways and why monitoring water quality is an important part of protecting our environment. This special program is presented in collaboration with the Sovereignty Garden, Kahwá:tsire Indigenous-Led Child & Family Programs, All Our Relations Land Trust, and Two Sisters SUP. Earlier this summer, Water Warriors visited the Sovereignty Garden to learn alongside Kahwá:tsire and All Our Relations Land Trust. Now, we're excited to welcome our partners to the PumpHouse Museum as they join us for this special collaborative program. Guided by a Mohawk paddleboard instructor from Two Sisters SUP, children will take part in a real water quality testing activity while learning about the importance of Lake Ontario from both scientific and Indigenous perspectives. Together, we'll explore our shared responsibility to care for the water for future generations. This program takes place at the PumpHouse Museum. Portions of the program will take place outdoors and will run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Designed for children ages 4–7. Younger siblings are always welcome to attend with an accompanying caregiver.
