About this Class

How does water travel from the lake to our homes? In this hands-on session, young participants will explore where our water comes from and how it moves through pipes and pumps. Using the historic features of the PumpHouse, children will discover how Kingston first brought water from Lake Ontario into the city — and why this building is so important. Through interactive activities, movement, and story time, children will follow water’s journey from lake to home and begin thinking about why water matters. This program takes place at the PumpHouse Museum. Portions of the program will take place outdoors and will run rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Designed for children ages 4–7. Younger siblings are always welcome to attend with an accompanying caregiver.
